Rhode Island’s statewide accountability system includes measures like test scores, graduation rates, and chronic absenteeism for students and teachers. This is how our state rates school performance. Using this information, RIDE assigns overall star ratings to public schools across the state. This star rating is a simple way to understand overall school success.
The Overview section below displays the overall star ratings earned by each Rhode Island public school. To earn a higher overall star rating, schools must meet higher performance level within each major area of RIDE’s school star rating system. This approach intentionally prevents high performance in some areas from masking low performance in others, enabling schools to focus improvement efforts in areas that need the most attention. The Overview section also displays which schools were identified for having low-performing student subgroups.
Subsequent sections enable users to view every schools’ performance on specific accountability measures.
The Measure Details section provides additional interactive dashboards showing each school’s performance on specific accountability measures.
