Rhode Island’s statewide accountability system includes measures like test scores, graduation rates, and chronic absenteeism for students and teachers. This is how our state rates school and LEA performance. Using this information, RIDE highlights areas for schools and LEAs to focus on making improvements for students. For schools, RIDE also publishes star ratings. This information provides a simple way to understand overall school success.
New in 2024, RIDE has also published data on students who earned the Rhode Island Seal of Biliteracy. The results for students who left high school in 2023 can be found here. The Seal of Biliteracy will be factored into RIDE’s accountability system beginning in 2025.
More information on RIDE's school accountability system, including a technical manual (to be updated in early 2025), is available at http://www.ride.ri.gov/InformationAccountability/Accountability.aspx.
