Chariho Regional High School and Chariho Area Career and Technical Center, part of the Chariho Regional School District, has built a "Ladder to Learner Autonomy". Guided by our school vision, incoming students will be provided with the training, supports and strategies to become increasingly self-directed learners, armed with skills that foster a love of learning and an increased number of choices as they move from high school to college and careers. The foundation upon which our Ladder rests on is our Graduation Portfolio, a rich, reflective collection of products and experiences grounded in "The Chariho Ten": Expectations that ensure students have the 21st century skills necessary for post-secondary success.
Student success will only come to fruition with the consistent contributions of all stakeholders in education, including students, parents, faculty and our growing network of community partners. While we have created systems that promote learner qualities, increased student voice and choice, and accountable instructional practices, we continue to explore how to connect our parents and community partners more consistently to the student learning experience.
To continue to grow our network of community partners locally, regionally and nationally we need to grow our alumni outreach, target businesses and professionals that can support our Career and Technical Center Programs and the many Pathway Endorsements and Diploma Seals we have created for students, and build our brand through innovative learning experiences that distinguish our students from others competing for the same scholarships, admissions to schools and job opportunities.
Chariho Regional High School and Chariho Area Career and Technical Center is proud to be ranked by US News and World Report as the #3 high school in Rhode Island. With 74% of our growing number of Advanced Placement students scoring a ‘3’ or better, we’re confident that our emphasis on high expectations, a rigorous and relevant curriculum, and timely interventions is working.
